A cold pint and a meal for Friday arvo

As Friday afternoon rolls in, we start to think about that crisp cold beer and good company we’ll be enjoying after work. Most of us don’t want to head straight home on a Friday afternoon, so if you’re a Katherine local, or travelling through the area, we’ve found the best places for a cold pint to start the weekend off. Look no further than these bars and pubs in Katherine to unwind and settle into the weekend ahead. You’ll be happy to know that you’ll also get a decent meal alongside your beer at these awesome pubs in the area, so don't miss these venues tonight.

The Mahogany Bar & Grillsituated in The Stuart Hotel is a much-loved local hotspot for a large meal and a cold beer. At the Mahogany Bar & Grill you’ll find traditional pub meals such as chicken parmigiana alongside fresh oysters and pasta. If you head to the Mahogany Bar straight after work you don’t need to worry about going hungry with their fantastic menu and large meals. They pour up your favourite fresh pints out of the tap including Guinness or fresh pale ales, so call your mates and meet up here for your 5 o’clock beer. If later in the evening you’re after something a bit stronger, ask them to serve you up one of their brightly coloured fishbowls and pick a pool table to relax by for the night. By Saturday morning, you’ll have completely forgotten about the week just gone.

If you’re looking for a relaxed spot to have a beer on a Friday night, head down to the Katherine Country Club. They have an ambient outdoor beer garden and serve up a full bistro menu for dinner. Grab some crumbed calamari to line your stomach and a pint of Carlton Draught to start off your weekend. Although it’s probably a bit dark to play a round of golf, you can try your hand at lawn bowls with your friends for some fun before digging into dinner. The Katherine Country Club is loved for its chicken schnitzels, so make sure to order one served up with chips and a salad bar for a decent feed. If there’s still space in your stomach after beer and food, try their famous pavlova for dessert. This venue is the best laid back environment for a Friday night out in Katherine, so if you’re looking to have a chat with your mates and listen to some live music, head here.
