If you’re a nature lover, or just want to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life in the city, head out to Mount Warning National Park’s main road, where you will find the Rainforest Café. Open Thursday and Fridays from 10am to 4pm, and weekends from 8:30am to 5pm, this is the perfect stop for a day out in the hinterland. Sit out in nature as you sip one of the café’s specialty coffees, and listen to the bubbling of Wollumbin Creek that runs just a few metres from the café’s tables. All dishes are delicious and made with a home-style touch that has customers coming back again and again. Even if you’re tired and stressed, the tranquil atmosphere here is sure to calm the nerves and soothe the soul.

If you’re feeling super adventurous, head up to Mount Warning National Park, also known as Australia’s ‘green cauldron’, where there are a range of great scenic walks and picnic spots available (if you get a bit peckish after your trek). Prefer a shorter drive? Head over to the Tweed Art Gallery Café where you will find superb coffee, delightful food and a welcoming atmosphere. Open from Wednesdays to Sundays, 9am to 5pm, this is the perfect café to stop and soak up the magnificent hinterland views. Serving up classic, easy and delicious food, including homemade cakes, slices, scones and muffins, there’s something for every taste and appetite here. Nibble on some cookies or, if you’re stomach is grumbling, opt for the Gallery Breakfast that includes two free-range eggs, bacon, tomato, hash brown and toasted Turkish bread. Yum! With breakfast, lunch and dinner options available, you could stay here all day! Be sure to book ahead to avoid disappointment!
