#1 How often is too often?

Not everyone is the same when it comes to maintaining their hair; the secret is to personalise your hair care routine. If you have oily hair, try to wash it every day—if not, every second day—as this will help rid your hair of that greasy feeling and give you a more healthy look. If your hair is dry, then don’t shampoo as often—simple!


#2 Focus on the scalp

A common misconception people have when applying shampoo is focusing on the hair itself. In fact, you should be focusing on massaging the shampoo into the scalp! Washing the entire length of hair will encourage flyaway hair that is dull and coarse.


#3 Don’t forget the conditioner

Unless you’re using a 2-in-1 shampoo solution, always use conditioner every time you shampoo. Using hair conditioning products will increase shine, minimise static electricity, increase strength and reduce the harmful effects of the sun.

Unlike shampoo, hair conditioner should only be used on the tips of the hair and not the scalp! If you have finer hair, applying conditioner to the scalp can make it look limp.

Again, it’s important to tailor your hair maintenance routine to suit your personal needs. When purchasing your hair care products, make sure it matches your particular hair type—i.e. shampoo specifically for colour-treated hair, fine hair, curly hair, blonde hair etc. Try to keep your shampoo and conditioner the same brand if you can.
