Dance the night away at these Airlie nightclubs

Airlie Beach is known as the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef with its beautiful tropical weather, pristine blue waters and picturesque views; but when the sun goes down that’s when Airlie Beach really comes into its own. With nightlife options fairly limited in the Whitsunday Islands, backpackers, young tourists, and local partygoers all flock to the Shute Harbour Road main strip for a memorable night of drinking and dancing until the early hours of the morning. We’ve saved you the trouble of wasting a potentially good night at a bad venue and found 3 of the best nightclubs in Airlie Beach.

Mama Africa Bar & Nightclub

This fun-filled nightclub is a little piece of Africa in the heart of Airlie Beach. So if you’re looking for a night out, gather the pack, get your dancing shoes on and unleash your inner beast on the zebra striped dancefloor at this first class nightclub. They run a Cocktail Club that is available all weekend from 10pm until 12pm which offers a versatile range of both new-age and traditional cocktails allowing you to slurp yourself silly without having to make it rain.

Entry is $10 Friday and Saturday nights but is well worth it once you walk through the fibreglass cave entrance and have your spine tingled by some of the best DJ talent in the area. This one-of-a-kind nightclub has been around for over 10 years and if you ask any local, “where should I go for a good time tonight?” You know the answer will be Mama Africa Bar and Nightclub.

For those of you who love a night of dancing, drinking and socialising out on the town but don’t necessarily want the intense nightclub atmosphere, the Down Under Bar and Grill is for you. The place won’t feel like a pack of sardines when you’re enjoying some great live music on the dancefloor at this funky nightspot. Situated a short walk from the Airlie Beach Lagoon, warm into a night at Down Under Bar and Grill with one of their delicious $15 meal deals to line the stomach before the action begins.

This epic nightspot is a favourite among backpackers, so you know there’s going to be a great atmosphere, plenty of crazy bar competitions and cheap drinks. Down Under Bar and Grill is also fairly versatile with its outdoor seating area, pool table, giant-sized jenga, and a large pole to practise a few different dance moves if you desire. When you start your night at the Down Under Bar & Grill the possibilities are endless, so it doesn’t matter whether you’re a tourist looking to meet some new people or this nightclub is the regular for you and your mates, you know memories will be created (then quickly forgotten) at this Airlie Beach venue.
