Are you a Gold Coast fishing fanatic? Read on

The Gold Coast is jam-packed with beaches, rivers, canals and other little waterways. While you can try your hand fishing at any of these spots, you're not always going to land yourself a catch - or even a bite. If you want to give yourself the best chance of reeling in that big Bream or whopping Whiting, you're going to need to take our advice. Forget about fishing charters, we've saved you the money and found you the best shoreside fishing spots on the Gold Coast to drop a line. All you need to worry about is what bait you're going to use and which rod you want to rig up.

If you like your beer as much as you like fishing, we’ve also found a few post-fishing Gold Coast pub stops.

Fishing spot #1 – Barney Street Southport

Located at the river end of Barney Street, bring down your best camping chair and cast your line. A favourite spot among many Southport locals, you can catch anything from Whiting, Bream and Trevally right through to Mud Crabs and School Jew. The best bait to use are Yabbies or Bloodworms and be sure to adhere to bag limits – if you’re lucky enough for this to be a problem.
