Use long-lasting nail polishes

If you’re after beautiful results, you simply can’t skimp on a good polish. While these may come in at around $15-$20 a pop, investing in a good polish will be more durable, making it more cost-effective and able to last. If you’re applying directly to your real nails, try the manicure with a UV gel polish such as Shellac. Many different salons offer this as part of their services, and can make the manicure last up to 2 weeks, so be sure to ask!

Schedule regular refills

For those that have committed to acrylic French nails, you’re going to need them filled every few weeks. Acrylic nails are an investment, so why waste your money if you’re not committed to regular fills? Be sure to schedule appointments every 2 weeks. If you wait any longer, the nails will grow out and be much easier to break or become damaged. Also, leaving your nails too long between refills and you’ll have to start from scratch—not good for your natural nails underneath!

Moisturise regularly

To lengthen the life of your French manicure or acrylic nails, be sure to moisturise your hands every day. It’s also a great idea to apply oil to your cuticles to keep them soft, healthy and beautiful. Moisturising will help prevent your hands from drying out and prolong the life of your manicure.

Find a skilled nail technician

Beautiful nails require skill, time and a professional touch. You’ll want to find a quality nail technician who understands exactly what you want, and can provide results that are long lasting.
